Iga-Yaki Donabe Clay Rice Cooker “Kamado-San”

Item # 110057.

They say that once you cook rice in a clay pot you never go back to an automatic rice cooker! The “terroir” of the clay and the natural heating properties allow the rice to cook gently. The result is fluffy shiny rice.

These specially designed pots are suitable for cooking on the open flame of a gas stove. (Not for use on electric stoves.) The glaze on the surface of the donabe promotes the far infrared radiation (FIR) when heated. FIR helps the heat to penetrate into the core of each grain for even cooking, while retaining the moisture of the rice. The bottom of "Kamado-san" is about 1.5 times thicker than a regular donabe, so the clay retains the heat much better. Even after the heat is turned off, the retained heat from the clay continues to steam-cook the rice until ready. Also, the unique feature of double-lid gives the effect of pressure-cooking.

While Kamado-san is particularly designed for making premium-quality rice, this beautiful donabe can also be used for other purposes, such as making soup, stew or hot pot. (You don't need to use the inner lid.) 3-Cup capacity. Comes with wooden shamoji
