Shipping and Handling

We currently ship within the continental U.S. and Japan. Packages are shipped via UPS or USPS  from Los Angeles, California. Packages are shipped Tuesday-Saturday, excluding Holidays, and are subject to change without notice. Click the link for a complete list of our holiday closures dates. Delivery time varies depending on location and shipping service. You will be advised of a delay in shipping that exceeds 30 days. 

We currently offer the following shipping options to suit your needs and budget.   

USPS Ground advantage:  This service offers a more economical option for shipping packages, especially for those that don't have strict delivery deadlines.

Please note that packages being sent to Hawaii via USPS Ground Advantage can take up to 4 weeks to be delivered. For faster delivery to Hawaii we recommend USPS Priority mail. 

USPS Priority Mail Offers a faster delivery time vs Ground Advantage.

UPS Ground:  Is a great, cost-effective option that offers fast delivery. This option is not available to PO Boxes and military addresses.

UPS Next Day Air: Is our fastest option. Please be aware that we only offer this service on orders received by noon PT, Tuesday-Friday (subject to change without notice). Orders received after 12 p.m. PT will be shipped on the next business weekday. If gift wrapping has been selected for any item, shipping may be delayed by up to one day. Please note that we are closed on Sundays, Mondays and Holidays. RUSH delivery is available within the 50 United States, but is not available to PO Boxes and military addresses. 

SIGNATURE REQUIRED Orders over $150 that contain, Jewelry, Fine art prints, or other high-value items will require a signature for delivery. All orders with a value greater than $300 will require a signature for delivery.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS Currently, we only ship to Japan.  Orders shipped to Japan are mailed via the United States Postal Service.

Please be advised that;

  • Orders are subject to postal regulations. Items that are restricted or otherwise not permitted in regular Priority Mail or First Class parcels may be deleted from your order, and your purchase total will be adjusted accordingly.
  • Priority Mail takes 2-3 weeks for delivery. First Class Mail may take longer and is not insured.
  • The Japanese American National Museum is not responsible for loss, damages, or any other problems that are transit-related.
  • The recipient is responsible for any import taxes, customs duties, and fees levied by the destination country. Customs policies vary widely from country to country; you should contact your local customs office for more information.
  • To comply with export compliance, all recipient names and addresses must be in Roman letters/Arabic Numerals.

 

On occasion, we are able to ship to other Countries not listed above. For International inquiries, please email museumstore@janm.org and provide your Name, Billing/shipping address, and a list of items that you would like to order. We can then provide you with an accurate price quote.  Please note that all customs taxes and fees are the responsibility of the customer and are NOT included in the price quoted.  

We are no longer shipping orders to Consolidation warehouses, aka shipping warehouses. Orders being shipped to Shipping warehouses will be canceled, and a refund will be issued.

United Kingdom
Due to Brexit tariffs, we no longer ship to the UK.

CONTRIBUTIONS There are no shipping/handling charges on contribution amounts (Memberships, Children’s Courtyard, General Donations). Any charges that do appear will be adjusted accordingly.
