Print Manzanar Camouflage Net Factory by Dorothea Lange (8x10)

Item # 220491.

At Manzanar concentration camp during World War II, many Japanese  Americans participated in the war effort even though they had been  forced to evacuate their homes. Here, women weave camouflage nets. The full title also goes on to say "This is one of several War and Navy  Department projects carried on by persons of Japanese ancestry in  relocation centers." However, the camouflage net project was short-lived due to a strike by the workers for more pay. Instead of increasing the wages to what workers outside of the camps were making, they shut down the operation.
