Item # 252410.
This figure is Mark Nagata’s homage to the men and women who cast soft vinyl in Japan. “Sofubi” is a contraction of the Japanese term “sofuto bineeru” (or a Japanization of “soft vinyl”). It is a process that requires complex metal molds to be filled with a cold liquid PVC suspension which is heat-cured. When it becomes set, the PVC is still flexible enough to be pulled out of the molds in one piece. Many of the artisans who do practice this casting process today have been doing so since the 1950s. 6” H.
