10,000 Cranes for Peace Pin

Item # 111251.

Adapted from the Japanese tradition of folding 1,000 paper cranes for long life, the museum invited the public to fold 10,000 cranes to travel with the exhibition September 11: Bearing Witness to History in 2005. The folding of 10,000 cranes signified our hopes for worldwide healing during challenging times. This pin was designed to celebrate peace and depicts the origami crane surrounded by pine needles--another symbol of long life. 1"H.
