This furoshiki (wrapping cloth) is decorated with obake (supernatural spirits) cards, a game popular during the Edo period and consisting of illustrations of 48 obake from Japanese folklore. An accompanying hiragana character in the corner signifies the creature's initial syllable. Obake cards may be the forerunners of Pokemon!
