Alec Nakashima, founder of Akashi-Kama and one of JANM's 30 Changemakers under 30 Honorees, has partnered with JANM to produce fashion pieces that reflect on youth culture inspired by JANM’s upcoming exhibition, Don’t Fence Me in: Coming of Age in America’s Concentration Camps (2023).
This original garment is Akashi-Kama’s take on an American light jacket with a Japanese workwear silhouette. Traditional shape is cut and tapered for modern everyday wear, with a pair of front tie closures and a Japanese high collar. Lightweight oxford cotton with a printed Seigaiha wave pattern. A golden pair of tie ends add accent and natural weight. Unisex Sizing: XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL.
