Lucky Cats Paper Dolls--Maneki Neko
Item No.: 70071

By Maggie Swanson

Here is a book that is likely to test the retail adage the "Cats always sell!" It is included in our offerings as an illustartion of how pervasive Japanese cultural icons are becoming in Western products. This version of the Maneki Neko fuses (sometimes strangely so) Japanese and Western imagery (with a little Chinese influence too!) The author has used her own cats' faces for the two paper doll characters. Includes 15 pages of costumes and stories, two dolls, and two sheets of crazy stickers. (A caveat: you have to cut the dolls and clothes out, they are not perforated) A must for anyone who has ever wanted to dress cats as hippies or Egyptians!
