| Artist Postcard by Edwin Ushiro |
This is a small reproduction print of "A Broken Love Sonnet." (2010) printed on coverstock with a matte finish. Artist information and another small print "Paper Dog" (2013) appears on back of card (see inset). Card measures 6" x 8" and sealed in a clear cello bag.
Edwin Ushiro's work resonates with the echoes of his "slow town" childhood on the Hawaiian island of Maui, but he subverts those sun-struck memories of youthful adventure with darker tones borrowed from the uncanny obake tales of his Japanese heritage and the eerie folklore indigenous to the islands. After earning a BFA with Honors in Illustration from Art Center College of Design, he worked in the entertainment industry as a storyboard artist, concept designer and visual consultant. More recently, he has exhibited in venues worldwide, including Villa Bottini in Italy, the Museum of Kyoto, the Portsmouth Museum of Art and the Japanese American National Museum.
